Smartphone-based intervention: an update from WP6

By Psychosocial Centre, October 11, 2021

The trials on the smartphone-based Step-by-Step intervention are well on the way, which calls for an update from WP6. They are in the middle of an intense recruitment period, with each country at a different phase.

Successful recruitment in Egypt

In Egypt, recruitment has gone well after subcontracting Caritas to carry out the recruitment locally, and the trial will likely finish by the end of the summer. Dissemination activities can then, hopefully, start already later this year.

Challenges in Germany and Sweden

In Germany, the recruitment has gone reasonably well but is now slowing down when a third of the required participants are still to be recruited. The most difficult case has been Sweden, where they have run into big recruitment challenges. WP6 launched a new recruitment campaign recently, which hopefully will provide positive results in the coming weeks.

Developing a sustainable infrastructure

WP6 has been collaborating with WP2 on interviewing stakeholders about Smartphone-based intervention: an update from WP6 the best ways to disseminate results in each of the countries in question. They are also developing the IT infrastructure that would allow Step-by-Step to be maintained after the project; the idea is to have it available free of charge, therefore continuing implementation long after the end of the project.
